We will now have a permanent home

On  behalf of our board of directors and our President, David Olson, I am most pleased to announce that the Berwyn Historical Society has purchased a building and will now have a permanent home. We also wish to thank all of our former board members for being such good stewards of the monies raised by the BHS. This has allowed us to have the necessary funds to make such a purchase. We look forward to renovating the building and and being able to share our collection with our community. Following is our official Press Release!

The Berwyn Historical Society will soon have a new home. David Olson, president of the organization, announced at Berwyn City Council Tuesday evening, that a building has been purchased at 14th St and Grove Ave for new headquarters for the BHS. Olson said that once renovations are made to the building, the society will move its office and archives to the new site, which was an old storefront and residence. A museum will be created at the front of the building, offering displays on Berwyn’s history. Plans are to have the museum free and open to the public each week on a limited, but regular, schedule. For the past several years, the historical society, which was founded in 1979, has had office and storage at the North Berwyn Congregational Church (now Iglesia Unida de Cristo). The new facility will have almost twice the storage capacity and will be more accessible, with all public spaces on the ground floor. The building will undergo some exterior and interior renovation and should be ready for occupancy later this summer, Olson said.
